Shikai: It is activated by the command. Shine Brightly (光華閃け,kōka hirameke).
Shikai Special Ability: Nijigasumi's ability is to control light and create illusions, such as making Maki invisible. It can also use light offensively, creating blades of light to cut an opponent, turning the field completely white and attacking his enemies with shadows, or even fight if the blade is broken while light completely covers it.

Shikai: Its shikai command is "Rankle the Seas and the Skies" (水天逆巻け, suiten sakamake). Nejibana's shikai is represented as a cross between a trident and a ji (a Chinese halberd) with a crystalline appearance that has the ability to manipulate water. Like the ji, it bears a horsehair tassel, although it is blue instead of the traditional red; similarly the two side blades are straight with concave edges as opposed to the usual crescent blade.

Information: A Katana with a dark red handle and a round shaped guard. Ikkaku carries his Zanpaku-to around by hand rather than attach it to something. At the end of the handle is a small compartment which contains some cream Ikkaku uses to stop wounds from bleeding. Ikkaku is one of the few who can fight using either hand and also uses his Sheath as an attacking weapon along with his Zanpaku-to.

Gegetsuburi (五形頭; "Five-formed head"): It is a normal katana in its sealed state.

Shikai: Its shikai command is "Crush" (打っ潰せ, buttsubuse). In its shikai, Gegetsuburi transforms into an oversized spiked ball and chain. Its special abilities, if any, are unknown, as he is quickly dispatched by Ichigo Kurosaki during his first activation of it. It doesn't seem to be particularly sturdy, as Ichigo was able to shatter the spiked ball with a single, barehanded punch; however, considering that Ichigo is capable of fighting on par with captain-level shinigami, this may not be indicative of its actual strength.

Information: Ashisogi Jizou bears resemblance to a Katana with a dark green handle with needles sticking out around it and a bandage covering some of the guard. Mayuri keeps Ashisogi Jizou attached to his waist tie, hanging in front of his legs.

Matsumoto's zanpakutō is Haineko (灰猫, Haineko? literally "ash cat"). Its guard is in the shape of a cat's head. When released with the command "growl" (唸れ, unare?), the blade dissolves into dust. In combat, Matsumoto can control the movement of the dust, and cut anything it lands on by moving the hilt. Because Haineko is just as lazy as herself, Matsumoto has had difficulty achieving bankai.

Shūhei's zanpakutō is Kazeshini (風死, Kazeshini? lit: wind of death). When released with the command "reap" (刈れ, karire?), it takes the form of two kama-like weapons, each with two blades curving both directions, connected by a long chain. This makes it the third paired zanpakutō revealed thus far. Although he dislikes the shape of his weapon because it's "shaped like something meant to take life,"[15] he is extremely proficient at wielding it, capable of using the blades as both hand-to-hand weapons and projectiles, using the chain to make the weapons' paths unpredictable...

Urahara's zanpakutō is a shikomizue named Benihime (紅姫, Benihime? "crimson princess"). When released with the command "awaken" (起きろ, okiro?), Benihime's blade becomes wider than that of his sealed zanpakutō and the hilt curves. In this form it has two known special abilities activated by the command "scream" (啼け, nake?, "sing" or "cry" in Japanese versions): it can create a polygonal "blood mist shield" capable of blocking most attacks and can fire a crimson-colored energy blast which is similar to a cero. Benihime's bankai has yet to be revealed, but Urahara, when asked to use his bankai to help train others, states that his bankai is not fit for such a purpose.

Ruri'iro Kujaku (瑠璃色孔雀, Azure Peacock), "Nickname" Fuji Kujaku (藤孔雀, Wisteria Peacock). According to Yumichika, the zanpakutō's favorite color is azure, and it's least favorite wisteria purple. Hence, when he calls his sword Fuji Kujaku instead of its true name, it sulks and won’t achieve its true power. It is only when he calls it by its true name that its potential is achieved. Although Yumichika doesn't admit it to his 11th Division comrades for fear of being hated, especially by Ikakku, since 11th Division zanpakutō are generally used for direct attack, he has a kidō-type sword.
