Visoreds

[ At 2/17/2009 By rain   0 comments ]
The Visoreds are Soul Reapers who have obtained hollow powers.[110] The associated process is referred to as "Hollowification" (虚化, horō-ka?), which was caused by Sōsuke Aizen.[86][111] To gain access to their hollow powers, a Visored dons a hollow mask. This allows them to augment their Soul Reaper abilities with hollow powers, as well as giving them access to some of the generic hollow abilities. The Visoreds have not shown any sort of hierarchy, seeming to prefer a loose-knit organization.[110] While the term Visored is spelled in the manga using kanji meaning masked army (仮面の軍勢, kamen no gunzei?), it is pronounced as the English visored (ヴァイザード, vaizādo?), an archaic meaning being "masked". Earlier English translations used "vizard",[112] which instead meant "mask".

Hueco Mundo

[ At 2/17/2009 By rain   0 comments ]
Hueco Mundo (虚圏, ウェコムンド, Ueko Mundo; lit. Hollow World in Spanish) is the dimension where Hollows and Arrancar usually reside
Hueco Mundo is located between the human world and Soul Society, though it is separate from the bordering dimension known as sangai. It can only be accessed by tearing the dimensional fabric separating the worlds, which allows Hollows to travel to any other dimension at will.[1][2] Depending on the hollow, the effect of this process varies. Regular hollows usually appear from a small black vortex or form out of smoke, while Menos-class Hollows quite literally tear the sky apart to emerge. Arrancar use a more stable variant of the latter technique known as Garganta.

The landscape of Hueco Mundo is a seemingly never-ending white desert, with dunes like those of the Sahara. The desert is littered with what appear to be boulders and shriveled trees, but these are actually a form of quartz. In Hueco Mundo, the moon is on the opposite lunar phase of that in the human world. Like in Soul Society, the atmosphere is filled with Spiritual Energy in the form of Spiritrons, but it is more concentrated, thus allowing smaller hollows to gain nourishment despite the lack of human souls.[3]

Like that in real world deserts, active life in Hueco Mundo appears to be few and far between. Hollows generally seem to dwell below the surface or in other areas until something provokes them to leave their shelter, like the intrusion of a foreign entity. According to the Shinigami, all Hollows dwell in Hueco Mundo regardless of their shape, size, or power. In the anime, hollows can also drag other spirits into Hueco Mundo, as seen with Orihime Inoue's brother, Sora. In this case, Sora was forcefully made into a hollow by several others and sent against Ichigo Kurosaki.

Reiryoku

[ At 2/17/2009 By rain   0 comments ]
Reiryoku (霊力, Spiritual Power) is a power aligned with the spiritual sensitivity and willpower of the user. It is used by Shinigami to provide power for their various feats and to effectively channel the powers of their Zanpakutō. It can also be used to cast Kidō, magic spells created by the Shinigami. Reiryoku can even be coalesced into a physical form and thrown or shot as a projectile. As a display of potency, spiritual beings have the ability to incapacitate the opponent's movement and simultaneously frighten them, by means of dispersing Reiryoku into the air. The aforementioned ability is known as Reiatsu, possessing power that could be literally felt within the atmosphere.

Every spiritual being and every human has a certain amount of Reiryoku. If this amount is higher than a certain degree, it grants the person superhuman abilities. Those with such an above-average level of Spiritual Energy are very rare among living humans. It seems to be that the most basic ability that humans with a higher level of Reiryoku have is the ability to see ghosts: Pluses, Shinigami and Hollow alike. Shinigami are essentially departed souls in Soul Society with very high levels of Reiryoku who receive special training to utilize their powers. Hollows, if they make active use of their Reiryoku, usually do it to catch their prey or to evade Shinigami more effectively, the extreme case being the Arrancar, who have an amount of Reiryoku equal to Shinigami, and are able to use it just as efficiently in combat.
